The 642 is a Concord series acoustic guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1976. It was made in Japan
The 642 features a concert body shape with fine grained spruce top bound with pearloid binding on selected rosewood back and sides. The soundhole is round and trimmed with an abalone rosette and a black pickguard. It has a solid mahogany neck, a 20-fret polished rosewood fingerboard with abalone hexagon position markers and black side dots and a matching headstock. Components include a none compensated bone saddle in a polished rosewood bridge with black pins, a bone nut, and gold plated precise tuning machine with pearloid buttons.
The 643 is a related model with pearl dot fingerboard inlays and a slotted headstock.
