The 580B, also known as the 580B Ballback or simply Ballback, is a Roadstar Pro series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1987. It is the only model produced with this particular body style. It was made in Japan by FujiGen.
The 580B body shape is inspired by the Fender Telecaster but it has a contoured back rather than the slab body of a typical Telecaster. Aside from the body shape it differs significantly from the Tele design. The 580B features a mahogany body bolted to a maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with small dot position markers. Components include an Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a Back Stop stabilizer, a pair of IBZ/USA humbucking pickups and Gotoh tuning machines.
The 580T Turbot is a similar model with a contoured top. Neither the Ballback nor the Turbot were very successful in terms of sales and they were discontinued a few months after being introduced.
