The 540S-LPF is an S series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1989. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen and was originally a part of the Roadstar Pro series. It was available only in Japan.
The 540S-LPF features a thin mahogany body bolted to a maple Wizard neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and sharktooth position markers. Components include DiMarzio made IBZ/USA pickups with F1 and F2 humbuckers flanking a C2 noiseless, stacked single-coil, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge and Gotoh tuning machines.
The "LPF" in the model name refers to the low profile way in which the pickups are mounted flush to the body, enabling the neck to be set deeply in to the body for an extra low set-up.
Guitarist Frank Gambale is strongly associated with the 540S-LPF. His first signature model, the FGM100, introduced in 1991 is based on the 540S-LPF but has different pickups, an AANJ and color-matched inlays.
