The 540PSH is a Power series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1989 as part of the Roadstar Pro series. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.
The 540PSH body has a 'reverse RG style' body shape with a long, pointy lower horn. This shape replaced the older Power series body shape which had been introduced in 1987.
The 540PSH features a basswood body bolted to a maple Wizard neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and sharktooth position markers. Components include DiMarzio-made IBZ/USA pickups with an F3 humbucker at the bridge and a C2 noiseless, stacked single-coil in the neck position and an Edge double locking tremolo bridge.
The 540PHH is a similar model with dual humbucker pickups. Both of these 22-fret 540P models were offered only in the US market. The 540PⅡ-SH and 540PⅡ-HH are similar models offered in other markets with 24-fret necks and pickguards.
Although these guitars were not signature models, they were strongly associated with Alex Skolnick who is best known for is work with American thrash metal band Testament.
The 540PSH was discontinued after 1990.
