The 540PⅡ-SH (or 540PII-SH) is a Power series guitar model introduced by Ibanez in 1988 as part of the Roadstar Pro series. It was produced in Japan by FujiGen.
The 540PⅡ models are based on a new 'reverse RG style' body shape with a long, pointy lower horn. This replaced the older Power series body which had been introduced in 1987.
The 540PⅡ-SH features a basswood body with a cutaway heel bolted to a maple Wizard neck with a reverse headstock and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with binding and sharktooth position markers. Components include a pair of DiMarzio-made IBZ/USA pickups with a humbucker at the bridge and a single-coil in the neck position, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge and a pickguard mounted below the pickups.
The 540PⅡ-HH is a similar model with dual humbucker pickups. Both of these 24-fret 540PⅡ models were offered only in Japanese and European markets. The 540PSH and 540PHH are similar models offered in the USA market with 22-fret necks and no pickguard.
Although these guitars are not signature models, they were strongly associated with Alex Skolnick who is best known for is work with American thrash metal band Testament.
The 540PⅡ-SH was discontinued after 1990.
