Multiple versions of the Power model were introduced in 1988 and 1989: a version two humbucking pickups was issued as the [[540PⅡ-HH]]. Both 540PⅡ models originally were for the Japanese and European market. Two 22-fret models without pickguard were introduced in 1989 as the [[540PHH]] and [[540PSH]] for the US market.

Although these guitars are not signature models, they were strongly associated with guitarist Alex Skolnick of Testament fame.
