The 3558 (also referred to as 3558S, 3558/6 or 3558/S) is a Tama acoustics series acoustic guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1971. It was made produced in Hoshino's own Tama Seisakusho in Aichi, Japan.
The 3558 features a dreadnought body with finest close-grained solid spruce top with simulated pearl purfling and white binding on laminated jacaranda back and sides. The round soundhole is trimmed with a rosette of pearl purfling and sports a black pickguard. The hand-shaped mahogany neck meets the body at the 14th fret and has an ebonized rosewood fingerboard with 20 frets, mother of pearl hexagon position markers, black side dots and a rosewood headstock. Components include a plastic saddle in an adjustable rosewood bridge, a bone nut, and chrome plated Smooth Tuner machine heads.
The 3558P is a similar model with a laminated plywood top. The 3566 is a similar model with gold plated hardware and selected indian-rosewood back and sides.
