The 3555 is a TAMA branded acoustic guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1972. It was made by Hoshino in its TAMA Seisakusho (TAMA Manufacturing Plant) in Owariasahi, Aichi, Japan.
The 3555 features a dreadnought body constructed of a fine close-grained solid spruce top with simulated pearl binding on selected matched Indian rosewood sides and back. The round soundhole is trimmed with a rosette of multiple inlaid rings and a black pickguard. The hand-shaped mahogany neck features an adjustable truss rod, a rosewood veneer headstock, and a 20-fret ebonized rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot position markers. Components include a plastic saddle in an adjustable rosewood bridge, a bone nut, and black nylon Smooth Tuner machine heads.
The 3555 is sometimes referred to as the 3555/S or 3555S to differentiate it from the 3555P which is a similar model with a laminate (plywood) top. The 3558 is a similar model with abalone hexagones fretboard inlays and genuine jacaranda back and sides.
