The 3550 is an Tama acoustics series classical guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1971. It was made by Tama Seisakusho Co. in Aichi, Japan.
The 3550 (also referred to 3550S or 3550/S) features a grand concert body shape with finest solid close-grained genuine spruce top on jacaranda back and sides. The soundhole is round and trimmed with an intricate inlaid wood rosette. It has a hand-shaped mahogany neck, a 19-fret ebony fingerboard with a rosewood headstock. Components include a none compensated bone saddle in a polished rosewood bridge with tie block, a bone nut, and gold plated machine heads with butterfly-shaped buttons.
For 1975 the top was changed to finest close-grained geniune solid cedar top.
The 3550P is a similar model with a special plywood top. The 3551 is a related model.
