The 2840 features a grand concert body shape with a fine grained spruce top on selected matched rosewood back and sides. The soundhole is round and trimmed with an intricate inlaid wood rosette. It has a solid mahogany neck with a rosewood reinforcement stripe down the entire neck, a 20-fret polished rosewood fingerboard with white side dots. Components include a none compensated bone saddle in a polished rosewood bridge with wood marquetry, a bone nut, and chrome plated precise tuning machine with pearloid buttonss.
For 1976 the top was changed to a close-grained cedar with an ebonized rosewood fingerboard.
