2670 Natural (1967) (more images) |
The 2670 is a 12-string/ 6-string double neck solid body electric guitar model introduced in 1975. It was made in Japan as part of what came to be known as the Artist series. It was also referred to as the Artwood Twin.
The 2670 features an ash body with a hand sculpted German carve top with abalone purfling and ivory binding mated to a pair of set-in hard rock maple necks with selected ebony fingerboards with 22 VelveTouch frets and pearl and ivory vine inlays. Components include a pair of Ibanez Super 70 humbucking pickups for each neck with gold covers embossed with Ibanez logos, a pair of Tune-o-Matic style Gibraltar bridges with sustain blocks embedded in the body and special tailpieces with cloud ornament, and Smooth Tuner machine heads. The vine fretboard inlays continue onto the intricately scalloped headstocks which feature "spaghetti" style Ibanez logos.
Controls consist of a master volume and 3-way toggle neck selector, separate master volume and tone controls and 3-way pickup selector toggles for each neck and individual Tri-sound switches for each of the four pickups.
Several changes were introduced for 1978 including Super 80 "flying fingers" pickups and new block lettered logos on the headstocks.
The 2670 was discontinued after 1980, but a reissue, the 2670RE was produced in 2006.
