The 2622 Solid brass is an spot model Artist series solid body electric guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1979. It was made in Japan by FujiGen. It was built to prove the sustain capability of brass as a working material and shown at the Chicago NAMM show in 1979. This guitar appears in the book "Ibanez: The Untold Story".[1]
The 2622 features a double-cutaway solid brass gold plated body (with an estimated weight of 76 lbs) mated to a set-in three-piece maple neck with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with binding and pearl and abalone split block position markers. Components include a pair of Ibanez Super 80 humbucking pickups, a Gibraltar Tune-O-Matic style fixed bridge and tailpiece with scalloped "cloud" ornament and pearloid Deluxe VelveTune machine heads.
The EQ Tone system consists of separate preamp gain and input attenuation controls paired with a 3-band active EQ with ±15 dB boost/cut for bass, middle and treble. A toggle allows the EQ system to be deactivated. The system can be powered with either a 9V battery or an included phantom power supply.
The 2622 is a similar model with carved maple top with creme binding on a double-cutaway mahogany body.
