The 2340 is a solid body guitar model introduced by Ibanez for 1974. It is also referred to as the Deluxe 59er. It was crafted in Japan by FujiGen.
The 2340 is visually similar to Gibson's Les Paul model. It features a solid mahogany body with a single cutaway and an arched flamed maple top with a brown sunburst finish bolted to a laminated maple neck with an "open book" headstock shape and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl trapezoid position markers, and white binding with black side dots. Components include a pair of uncovered Hi-Power humbucking pickups with individual volume and tone controls, a Tune-o-matic style bridge with stop tailpiece, a white pickguard, and chrome plated machine heads.
For 1976 the pickups were changed to Super 70's and the headstock was changed to a "Guild-style" shape.
The 2342 is a similar model with black finish, pearl dot fingerboard inlays, and gold hardware. The 2335 is a related model with black finish, pearl block fingerboard inlays, twin single-coil pickups, and gold hardware.
