I was wondering if you can help me with the year/model of my Ibanez. It's an Ex series and has only a 7 digit code on the back (made in Korea). Bought in the USA around 1994 or 1995 I believe. But have no idea what exactly the model or production year it is.
What's on your mind?
Hi guys, first post here and looking for some help. Does anyone have any idea what this body or neck is? the serial number of the neck suggests it's a premium from 2015 but it doesn't have the premium tag above the ibanez logo on the headstock. I also have no idea what this body is from so some help on that would be greatly appreciated :) I thought maybe it could be an rg721 neck but it doesn't seem quite the same...
I'm not sure it doesn't have the model name on it.
Hi, any clue as to what model this is? The stamp reflects 'quality and inspection approved by Ibanez, 09.1.14 - W.Zhang" and the serial number is J081251181. Any thoughts on model and current value? Thanks!
My beloved 540R was stolen almost exactly two years ago... it had a traditional push-in tremolo arm (the kind with the two nylon bushings). It worked perfectly... very steady feel, snug in its socket, neither swinging loosely nor too tight to move easily, super comfortable and agreeable.
Both of my subsequent locking trem guitars (an RG3XXV and an S670QM) have the Edge Zero II trems, which feature a tremolo arm with a screw-on torque adjustment cap to adjust the tightness of the tremolo bar. There is a single bushing on the arm just under the cap.
The problem: when the torque cap is screwed on loosely, there's play in the arm... it can rattle and wobble around in its socket slightly rather than fitting snugly. On the other hand, if I tighten the torque cap enough to make it feel snug, every time I swing the bar up into playing position and then put it down again, the rotation of the bar in its socket loosens the torque cap and it wants to rattle about again.
This is absolutely maddening. I did three straight months of daily shows in which I was forced to constantly retighten the cap after every use of the tremolo. I found myself adjusting it endlessly throughout every performance, and I never knew which aggravation... a wobbly whammy bar or one too tight to manipulate comfortably... I was going to wind up with. It started to affect my focus onstage, and my eagerness to use the tremolo at all... it just became a massive hassle.
I love all of my Ibanez guitars, and I refuse to believe this is a design choice that someone let out the door with the issues I'm describing... I'm convinced I'm doing something incorrectly. Unfortunately, everything I can find about these trems involves setup of the spring system itself. Surely I'm missing something. Am I the only one having this problem? Is there any way I can replace this godawful thing with a push-in bar, or am I just an idiot?! Please helllllpII
I have been trying the find the name of the two bolts? That are on the neck of this Ibanez model (Got this off Google images since I need a replacement parts for them since mine got lost), Any help would be appreicated!
Would anyone know what model is this?

My closest guess would be an RG550 with a custom pickguard / pickup configuration, since afaik they all come in HSH by default?
Hey guys, my bridge pickup stopped working randomly. I opened up the back of my guitar and I don't see anything unusual. The output signal when on the bridge pickup is extremely low, but works fine on the dual pickup (neck+bridge or center pickup) and neck pickup only mode.
Hi !! Recently I bought this guitar, but i'm not sure the refference of it, i've seen some images where it looks similar to a grg270 made on China. But my guitar has some differences.
Could you help me with refference. I want to know if its a cheap replica or if its a great unique model.
I was given a guitar like this but I can't find any information. what is the value of it?
I have searched high and low on the web but can't identify this oldie. Any ideas, please?
Can anyone please tell me what model this is
The serial number is GS170701099
I just got a Scarlet Red AZ2204 about a month ago and I'm looking to replace the pickguard. I'm not really a big fan of the pearloid one they choose to put it from the factory. I've seen some Youtubers with white or what looks to be a mint guard. Not sure if there somewhere that can supply it or they just got it that way from their custom shop order.
Thank you for any help on sourcing this!
I bought an old prestige a few years back. I believe it's an RG1550BK, serial decoder says 2004 Fugjika Gakki, JP.
I was out of the loop with music back then and simply bought as the price was good and I've always wanted one of these.
Last year I started playing properly again and am now getting all my gear tidied up and refreshed, ready to gig. I bought the guitar on eBay and the owner told me about some mods they had done (they changed out the pups and the previous owner before them had also changed out the stock pups). They provided me with the second set of pups but didn't have the stock ones anymore as they were lost with the original owner.
Now I'm looking to see if I wanna mod this guitar at all when I get it set-up. I want to compare the stock pups vs what is in there now, vs maybe buying something new.
Looking at the guitar, this is the mods I can see:
- Single coil pup has been removed.
- Scratch plate swapped from H/S/H to H/H style.
- Humbuckers swapped out with different ones.
Can anyone spot any these mods or ID these pups? What are the stock pups on this model?
I play punk rock mostly and some metal and I have a cheap RG with a snapped neck that has a Dimzarzio pick-up in the bridge position.
- Should I put a SC pup back in?
- If anyone can ID the pups, are they any good vs the original stock ones?
- If anyone can ID the pups, should I swap them out and put the Dimarzio in and something else, or are they pretty good?
Sorry I'm not sure on gear nowadays and whilst I guess it may be too hard to ID the bridge one at least, I'm just curious to see if anyone knows. I need to get the guitar set-up properly and will sort pups at the same time so haven't run it through my amp etc yet.
Thanks for any help you can give!
Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in size between the string holder blocks of the RG350Ex`s?
I`ve seen that this model has different series depending on the year it was manufactured.
I have on block broken and i need to order some new ones and in the case I dont find the specific one, can I use it from another RG350ex (different year).
Thank you for your help!
Good evening all,
Just bought recently used/for repair Gio, made in China. Unfortunately no model name is printed, though a 9 numbers serial is present starting with a letter J.
I require the model to be able finding appropriate pick guard by which i can cover the cracks beside the volume and tone pots. That's the only damage. Already bought two pick guards but none of the exact shape. Have aa look at the atached pics. The pick ups are HSH configuration, frets are 22 and the bridge is from the simple type without locking. Thanks in advance.
OK, here's the deal: I bought a butterscotch AS-80 brand new from a music store in Yuma, AZ. Purchase date was a couple of days past xmas 1995. Here's the ghost part: the serial number is on a sticker in the body. The sticker says Korea, but the serial number is hand written, and is 514001. This doesn't jive with ANY data logs anywhere I can research; no alpha designator, only 6 digits, and hand written. A few years ago, I tracked down an
importer / distributor in Idaho, who was apparently the west coast distributor at that time (and maybe still is) for Ibanez. The guy I talked to at the store told me it was a prototype, and the serial number says build date was January 4, 1995, number 1. He couldn't tell me why it was a prototype.
Anybody have knowledge?
Hey! I've been trying and trying to figure out whether to get the 3/8" or 1/2" hipshot ultralite tuners for my ibanez sr500. I have a feeling it should be the 3/8 but I'm not sure. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I bought an Ibanez JEM77V-BK second hand on a Ibanez forum in 2014 which I think is jemsite.com.
I absolute love it, according to an Ibanez guy I met in 2015, it's one of their finest built, even for a JEM77. So I'm keeping it close to my heart. Yet, it's only after acquiring a PRS recently, that I realised one more time how genuinely wonderful this guitar is in every sense of the way (except that I hate floyd systems but eh). And now I want to know where it comes from, where and when my baby was born
I checked on your site guys, and it gave me some data:
Made in '07 July, Japan, hence first year of production.
Nonetheless, the original tag which was sent with the guitar by the previous owner (with the bar codes and all), reads "00-01" in bold letters at the back, ad repeated in the full serial number on the same tag. But it doesn't show in the serial number printed behind the headstock.
Tag says serial number is: 0001F0725282
Guitar headstock says serial number is: F0725282
What does that mean, the 00-01? Any idea?
Thank you in advance!
